Should Not Give Too Much Homework to
University Students
“Learning
by doing” is what many teachers usually tell their students when they start
to complain about doing a lot of exercises in the classroom and plus the extra
things they need to do at home. Although, students do not like to do a lot of things
in every subject, still most of the teachers give them loads of homework. This
is the reason why university students are unhappy
and feels so bored or tired to study. Sometimes, students cannot submit their
work on time because of the overwhelming amount of things to do. Thus, I do
believe that teachers should not give more homework to university
students.
One of the many reasons why teachers
should not give more homework to university students because they also need to
have more free time to relax apart from studying. Although university students
are ready to be adults in their young age, they also want to go out at night so
that they can meet their friends for dinner or movies. If they do not go out,
they tend to listen to music, watch TV, or sleep at home. Sometimes, they also
help their parents to do household chores or help them to earn a living to
support their family needs. There are also times when some of them want to
exercise by playing badminton, running, or swimming after school. Another
important reason is that some students want to work after the school to save
money or to help their loved ones. Some university students do part-time jobs to
earn such as serving food, cashiering or selling in the market. Moreover, there
are a great number of them who help their parents to cook food in order to sell
it to other people in wet markets or restaurants.
Nevertheless, university students have
to do more homework because through it, they will gain knowledge and more
experiences from doing homework. In addition, hardworking teachers can make
students to be enthusiastic learners. However, students still do not like a lot
of homework because they believe that they can get more experience and great knowledge
by practically doing things through part time jobs or other means of helping
their parents and their family. All of these things must be considered, that is
why teachers should not give more homework to university students.
In conclusion, it is true for many that doing a lot
of homework can make most students unsatisfied. If they have to do only
homework every day, they will be unhappy. Also, too much homework will cause
them to become bored and lazy to go to school. On the other hand, if they do a
little homework, they will be very happy and become enthusiastic learners.
Moreover, they can learn many things in practical ways and they could have more
free time to relax and enjoy life happily.
